St Edwards Drama Society
The Society came into existence in the very early days of the Church. It closed in the 1980's a victim of the decline in numbers attending church.
We have a selection of Programmes and Images sorted by year. If you have anything connected with St Edward's Drama Society we would love to hear from you.
1914 A Mystery Play - The Rev. H A Hitchings, curate of St Edwards, has so often proved his great interest in, and devotion for, anything pertaing to his church and kindred organisations, that it is not surprisng he is so popular. He gave further proof of this on Tuesday evening, when a capital audience assembled in the school to witness a mystery play, of which he is the author. The title was "St. Cuthbert," and it was given by a very capable band of Church workers, the author and the following taking leading parts: Misses Biltcliffe, Addinall and R E Benson, Messrs A Robinson. Burton and Jack Benson. These artistes also rendered several solos and selections, which elicited deserved applause. The proceeds were most satisfactory, and were for the school funds. With thanks to the Barnsley Chronicle.
